Robert Bierman---director of the Nicolas cage cult film "Vampire's Kiss"---brings us this wickedly funny film "A Merry War" adapted from George Orwell's satirical novel "Keep The Aspidistra Flying." In the spirit of the great British Ealing studios comedies, A Merry War has the sparkling chemistry of Richard E. Grant and Helena Bonham Carter in a quick-paced and sophisticated retro-romance with a sharp-tongued screenplay by Alan Plater and a gorgeous score by Mike Batt. Critically acclaimed, yet little seen upon its theatrical run, this a wonderful gem of a film ready to be discovered by home video audiences.
